As a parent, my primary focus is ensuring that children receive the highest quality education possible and that parents have a significant role in their children’s education. As a taxpayer, I have a vested interest in wanting to ensure taxes are low without the constant yearly tax increases. I am a parent and tax paying resident of Peters Township and like many other residents live in Peters Township for good schools and low taxes. Since this time, I have attended numerous school board meetings and have worked to further my understanding of the Peters Township School District as well as other issues facing school boards throughout the nation. Although as a write-in candidate I had received 2,223 votes, I came shy of winning a seat. I stepped up to run as a write-in candidate to be a voice for outraged parents who felt betrayed and believed that parents, not school boards, should decide whether or not their children should wear a mask to school. However, immediately prior to the school year, the Board mandated masks when there was no statewide order in effect while parents were locked out of the meeting. Families made schooling decisions based upon this premise. ![]() For anyone unaware of the events which led to the write-in campaign throughout the summer of 2021, the position of the School Board was that there would be no mask mandate unless a statewide order was in effect.
